Pastoral Council
The Parish Pastoral Council of Saint John's-Saint Ann's Parish is both a process and a structure that enables parishioners to accept and share more fully the task of continuing the church's work in the South End of Albany. In discharging its responsibilities, the Parish Pastoral Council is guided by the following principles:
• The Parish Pastoral Council makes policy decisions; parish staff makes administrative decisions.
• The Parish Pastoral Council will use a consensus process when discerning major decisions that are intended to establish goals and objectives for the future.
• The Parish Pastoral Council decisions will be consistent with faith and morals, civil and church law, and diocesan policies.
• The Pastor (Parish Life Director) ratifies decisions of the Parish Pastoral Council through his/her presence and participation in the consensus process.
• Since the Pastor (Parish Life Director) is accountable to the Bishop for the parish and its spiritual well being, Pastoral Councilors will be open to reconsideration of any council decision which the Pastor (Parish Life Director), given subsequent reflection, deems to be in conflict with diocesan policy or directives of the Bishop.
The Pastoral Council fosters shared responsibility for the overall mission of the parish. Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, from September to June. The 2008-2009 members of the Pastoral Council are:
